The town of Sozopol is situated 33 km south of Bourgas. It is believed that this is the oldest town on the Bulgarian lands, founded in 610 BC by ancient Greeks under the name of Apollonia. Until now, a great ancient fortress wall has been preserved which surrounds the old town of Sozopol from the East and South, remains of ancient temples, churches and houses of different ages. The town fascinates the tourists with the romance of the narrow cobblestone streets and with the strange appearance of the old houses from the time of the Bulgarian Renaissance.

The beaches around the town of Sozopol are beautiful, all of them with fine golden sand. Central beach - located between the two peninsulas of the old and new town, near the city park. Nearby are the tourist areas of Kavatsi and Dunes. Not far from the city is the Arkutino Nature Reserve with a unique beautiful beach in the vicinity of which lies the mouth of the Ropotamo River. The old town of Sozopol is a favorite tourist destination.
